What is a Postpartum Doula?

A doula is a non-medical professional who assists families with the welcoming of a baby. Birth doulas attend births, where they offer comfort measures and coaching to the birthing parent and their partner. It is a beautiful roll and lends so much support throughout the process that is birth. But what comes after? Postpartum doulas attend to the family after the baby arrives.

Particularly in the 4th trimester, also known as the first three months after birth.

Why Sister Heart?

As a society we have lost our village. We have lost connections to elders, children, brothers and sisters. But welcoming a baby into your family and into the world is a beautiful invitation for people to show up to support you. Sometimes family and community show up all on their own. And sometimes we need to reach out in our vulnerable moments. Or perhaps the connection is there, but family and friends have work and other commitments that keep them from being available in the capacity that a new family needs.

That's where I come in.

I take on a similar role to that of a sister and come take care of YOU after the birth of your baby.

But perhaps unlike a sister, I am an unbiased presence in your home.

I am here to support you and your choices with professionalism, wisdom, and most of all HEART.
